Rural Transport

We have been involved in planning and providing rural transport solutions for over thirty years. Indeed, we pioneered many of the best initiatives to deliver rural travel opportunities and were part of the team that developed accessibility planning processes promoted by the DfT. We have undertaken many reviews ranging from county-wide rural networks to small voluntary car schemes and village travel plans and most involve direct engagement (in various forms) with local communities and parish councils.

We provide advice and support for a number of projects that address the transport challenges faced by rural communities, from local authorities needing to reduce bus service budgets and parish councils considering commissioning services themselves to ‘Total Transport’ schemes where integration of services can yield additional capacity and cashable savings. The role of community transport, Demand Responsive Transport and taxi services is becoming increasingly important as bus subsidies are withdrawn and we have unparalleled expertise in these alternative modes.
